They should remake FF8

Sure, it has a lot of conspiracy theory that makes it a game worth playing again and again. And not necessarily because the protagonist is dark, but because of war and the top-down pyramidal structure of society.

However, I just feel like they originally intended to make the game on like a PS4 gen system instead of the PS1. Having 4 discs is friggin awesome, like owning a novel or comic book; the ability to switch discs and turn open you jewel case was great. Perfect, for a sequel of Final Fantasy 7. However, I do think that the original intent was a lot more side missions for the SEEDs in the game, to get to know the characters better.

Cid literally does nothing in the game, and while I have theories behind warmongering in the game, those speedrunning with no philosophical care in the game don’t really have a plot regarding Cid. He’s barely a character from a plot device that doesn’t have much to do with the story, being Kramer’s wife and their head master. I would’ve felt a lot more immersed to find out what he was up to in the game, and there doesn’t seem to be hints in the US translation.

The trip all the way to Trabia seems like filler for those familiar with the speedrun in the game.

Squall and Rinoa really have no reason to like each other, although some story notes are interesting. Tifa and Cloud are childhood friends and the Final Fantasy IX romances are seen in the game. Not so, in FF8. Squall couples with Rinoa despite not caring earlier on and even can let Rinoa go with Irvine if he wishes.

And there doesn’t seem to be enough game time played to imply the entire GF memory loss twist.

As many would note.

What do you guys think?

Remake or no remake?
