Dragon Ball Z: defending criticisms

I used to really enjoy Dragon Ball Z, prior to getting caught up into elitist Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop hype.

Are they better? Yes.

Is Dragon Ball bad?

No.

Although there is no doubt the quality of Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop’s story, Dragon Ball (Z) does tell a story of bad guys going good, etc.. I am big on story, because I consider myself a future writer someday.

And first and foremost, the production. It’s called animation, so let’s discuss animation.

Jackie Chan’s and Hong Kong Martial Arts didn’t always have the greatest stories: look at the Magnificient Butcher.

However, because of their great use of action and camera work, they were praised.

Same with Dragon Ball Z. Action and animation are great, causing imaginative young teens to go nuts.
